I’ve been a guitar player since 14 years old, my main influences at that time (and still are) were Metallica, Pantera, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Kind Diamond, Fear Factory and Testament. The way guys like Alex Skolnick, Dimebag Darrell, and Andy Larocque made their tones so great and present made me start this long trip discovering new horizons to get the ideal tone for my sound. After years of searching, trying different types of pickups, brands, passive and active, I discovered JC Custom Pickups.

I contacted Joe and we started to work on new 6 and 7 string sets for me. I told him what I was looking for with precision and he turned my thoughts into reality. I wanted med/high output pickups with a mid punch, a nice touch of highs and a compressed low end for those heavy rhythms with palm mutes, but with good clarity regardless of my setup. If i’m pushing the gain of my 5150 all the way up I wanted to be able to hear the note separation without loss of power.

After some testing, my signature 6 and 7 string sets, called “The Jaeger” were born. Honestly, these are the kind of pickups that make you feel you don’t need anything else after them if you play hard rock/metal/metalcore.

So I happened across a sweet new company (jc customs pickups) out of our own Midland MI!

I ordered a dog-eared P90 with alnico 5 magnets and a resistance measurement of between 14k and 15k. What I ended up with was a sick pickup that matched everything I needed! It’s incredibly clear and punchy when you need it to be. The note to note clarity is impeccable. Joe was very quick to get my order in and made and was very kind. I would recommend his pickups to anyone looking to upgrade their axe!!!
